My boss at work is English and she always watches Coronation Street online so she doesn't miss any of it. I've never seen it. That doesn't seem fair Batgirl, we watch your rubbish soaps, the least you can do is watch ours!

Neighbours is now the only soap my wife watches, she gave up on Eastenders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street a while ago. She did used to watch Home and Away at one time, remember a blonde called Marylin in it who was quite nice!

I used to enjoy The Bill when it was originally a weekly one hour episode like a proper cop series.
At the time there was the likes of John Salthouse as DI Galloway and was broadcast after the watershed with some fairly strong storylines.
Sadly in about '88 or '89 it turned into a twice weekly half-hour soap which was when I gave up on it.

Initially I thought the half hour episodes were good with on going investigations filling part of the episodes. Burnside and CID were good characters but ultimately it suffered burnout and limped on for years afterwards. I stopped watching it around the early 90s. Having just checked it ran for 26 years 1984 until 2010

That was a really long run! Some of the Coppers seemed like social workers in it though, towards the end. My Missus watches the reruns regularly. We don't seem to have similar viewing tastes, but I did catch little bits of it with her. I thought Todd Carthy was pretty good in the later ones.
Charles.
