Corry has been crap since the days of Hilda & Stan, Albert Tatlock, Eddy Yates, Fred Gee etc. Eastenders has been crap from the get go. All of these talent(less) shows... X Factor, The Voice and the likes should have gone on no longer than the first series, and even that was too long for most of them. Gene. Summed up perfectly mate. Personally not watched Corrie or EE since 2003 and don't miss them one bit.

For the life of me i can't understand why people love Coronation Street and Eastenders. They are simply dross with their best years long behind them. Me neither. My Nan loves Corrie, Always has and she also Loves Emmerdale, Never misses an episode. I agree with you though Del they are dross especially Eastenders

Gene's post got me thinking whatever happened to Saturday night tv. There used to be a bit of variety but now it's talent shows whichever channel you go to and when they finish, another one pops up in its place. Little wonder that this little haven is a godsend and a reminder of what it could be and what we once had, even though the shows we're discussing on this thread went past their sell by date. I'd take any one of them over what we have now, even Eldorado!! I did have a soft spot for Pilar

I always feel like throwing the set out of the window on a Saturday, Absolute rubbish that's on.

I've checked on yt, both El Dorado & Albion Market are on there so that's my viewing sorted for tonight Might give 'Triangle' a revisit while I'm at it. Doctors is embarrassing to watch, proper amdram in places, I think the BBC assume that only the Werthers Original crowd will tune into their daytime shows. 'Father Brown' with the 'I'll get me coat' bloke is another. Don't give up on Doctors just yet......

I agree that Heartbeat went on far too long. I also enjoy watching the early ones with Nick Berry but the rest I'm not too keen on. Not really that much of a fan of only fools but Arthur you are spot on it went downhill when Relationships were brought into it. The early episodes are quite good especially the Grandad ones. Albert was good but I did like Grandad. I also admit to liking Brookside. I used to watch a few Soaps around the time Brookie ended, I've long since given up on them now, Such a waste of time. Brookside was the one I enjoyed the most. I remember a good scene from Brookie, I can't quite remember who it was, Barry Grant maybe, He was driving across the front lawns of the houses in the close in a Cortina I think, shouting "you can have me wife for a Tenner" Churning up everyone's front lawn going round in a circle. I presume his other half had been having an affair. The other Soaps should have finished years ago Yes I much prefered the original Grandad played by Lennard Pearce to Uncle Albert. Found the Brookside clip you mentioned on youtube. My brother was in a Liverpool pub a year or so ago & recognised the actress who plays Billy Corkhill's wife ( Kate Fitzgerald ) he approached her & said she was very friendly.

That was a classic scene Arthur Great find and thanks for posting it. Slightly different to as I remembered it, I didn't realise it was Billy Corkhill. Not a Cortina he used either but I did remember the car being rear wheel drive. Any idea what year that clip was from ? Great stuff that, the soaps aren't as good these days I'm afraid.

That was a cracking clip from Brookside Arthur. Thanks for putting it up. As Brown Cortina said, that is the one scene from Brookside I always remember. Seeing it again all these years later I thought the acting from those two was fantastic. I also found it to be a very moving scene with the plight this couple where in. My missus met Dean Sullivan one of the actors from the show back in the nineties at a Bingo venue. She said he was a hell of a nice guy and spent ages in conversation with her. (She still has his autographed photo somewhere in a drawer.) I wonder what Kate Fitzgerald is doing these days? I haven't noticed her in anything since she left Brookside. Charles.
