Really enjoying this nostalgic thread gents, keep 'em coming For several years I've been posting similar stuff over on Pistonheads which has a dedicated 'period classics' thread, since the village photos hosting site has dropped the ball I think I'll have to start an Instagram account and start posting some here - I've got tons of images which would fit in very nicely. A few more slides viewed today, during which this little gem was unearthed. A town setting from 1978 this time, and Boscawen Street, Truro, Cornwall. Some great cars on view and even an Ever Ready 'Batteries For Life' van - remember those? https://www.instagram.com/p/Cljp5NNo5o3 Gene.

Many thanks for this latest period pic Gene - I've just done a Google earth Street view and it hasn't changed a lot I'm pleased to say. Although the TSB Building behind the memorial and statue is now a Pizza Express and the central protruding section says that it's the Coinage Hall nowadays. The shop where the Ever Ready van is parked outside of, is now a Lakelands and the one where the BMC 1100 is parked is a Santander. (Going by Google Earth as of Nov 2020).
Coincidentally the buildings to the right had scaffolding on them in 2020 as well!

Great pic And once again, a 60s/70s building pops up amongst the more older architecture. Looks like it's been replaced (or maybe remodelled) in the old style since then though. Definitely liking the Ever Ready van. Completely forgot about them, but instantly reminded on seeing this.

The odd small scale later building which is similar in size to its neighbours I can tolerate, what I can't stand is what has happened in Manchester in recent years where huge, out of proportion ugly, overpowering monstrosities have been allowed to take over and dominate parts of the city. Manchester city council is completely in the pockets now of developers and it's ruined the city

Another from the private collection. This time we're travelling back over 65 years to 1957 and a view looking South down Dunster High Street. In view is the fine timber framed Dunster Yarn Market, and to the left the Grade II listed Luttrell Arms Hotel. In the far distance the imposing Dunster Castle. Some fine 1950s cars on view too. https://www.instagram.com/p/CmCmFAVoBkW Gene.

Another great photo, reminding us of how nice Britain was then. The two cars I can make out are an Austin A105 Westminster and what looks like the back end of an MG Magnette

Not quite as bad as the Ford Hitler mind.
