Wonderful snap shot in time! Cheers Gene - such a different world with a quieter pace of life and town, the fashion of the young lady with the bike and the style of the cars.

Lovely old scene there Obviously had to have a look at it now on streetview. Looks like the building just creeping in on the extreme right was replaced in the 70s by something totally not in keeping, which seems to be the case with a lot of olde High Streets. There's always one bland 60/70s building in amongst the still surviving historic stuff. I like the way that the lady with the bike seems to be eyeing up the parked car. I can't tell if it's a look of longing or revulsion though! Oh, and nice one on the Limehouse street spot, Sam . I just couldn't work out where it was.

Yes I've just had a look. The thing is though, bland 60s/70s/80s brick buildings are nowhere near as bad as the glass misshapes and architectural horrors which are being put up now.

True enough.
I mean I like a bit of bland 60s and 70s architecture, but in the right context. It doesn't fit in with this street in general, and I do have to wonder why the previous building had to go in the first place when the others in the 50s view seem to have survived. State of poor repair maybe?

Another snapshot of a moment in time as I work my way through the collection of slides. This time in Ramsgill in Nidderdale, Harrogate and a 1973 view of the Yorke Arms. A nice collection of period motors on view too. https://www.instagram.com/p/ClMWnrtoPed Gene.

My grandad had 3.5 V8 for a while, one of his son's had a Beetle, we had a Mk1 Escort when they first came out and I owned a rather rubbish Mini that we made the trader take back after the head casket blew on the A1.

Lovely shot As would be expected still the same view today, just a bit more of the building covered in ivy or whatever it is, which I've never thought can ever be good for a building, however nice it looks. Got to be a well-to-do owner of that Rover. The Escort looks like it might be a bit of a hottie one, although could be just aftermarket fakery. Mini Clubman estate just creeping in on the left there. My first car, although mine was blue!
