I've been collecting some old late 70s car mags from ebay and they're a great read

I remember that Gemini car club in the TV Times, I think it was a kind of competition to find which reader had a car nearest to one owned by a TV celeb of the time.

The Golf looks like its in the wrong article because the shape looks far in advance of the others there. The car looks like an 80s design and the others very 70s.

Car mags were so deep and explanative back then, well at least they appeared to be weren’t they and maybe, like a lot of things advertised in the 70s, more over the top! and so a guess with the internet and everything being online these days etc, put payed to it all. I get the feeling that also these days, like back then, someone spending a lot of money on a new vehicle, wants to know all the spec and the ins and outs of the car they’re gonna potentially purchase, but saying that I do feel with the way things are these days with the world being a faster pace, people being less patient, and less content maybe, and maybe taking things a touch more for granted, which could result in being a bit less appreciative, that people aren’t maybe gonna ponder on a potential car purchase like they would of maybe in general, done back in the day! also because then (as an example reminiscing on how my dad did things back then) it was more of a bigger thing and something ya didn’t simply rush into, you’d take the car mag home, and have a proper good ponder on it, (a bit like getting married lol!) maybe because people now, compared to the 70s, change their vehicle much more frequently, especially with all the options ya now have with financing and of course the option to lease vehicles! I don’t have to mention which era I much more preferred and always will, that’s quite obvious, and definitely seemed a lot more exciting!!
