My 18 year daughter (who is quite a good singer, musician and performer) absolutely loves Mamma Mia - and Mamma Mia 2.
As does Mark Kermode Yes, but Kermodes are usually full of shite. Gene Genie. Wonderful. Well, I'm glad it has brought enjoyment to some people. That's fair enough. But I think it's an atrocity to wonderful music and it will never enter my house .

Let's not go there with Mamma Mia. I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard "Alex, you like ABBA, so you must like Mamma Mia!/want to come and see the next movie" . Oh yes, I'd love to go and watch other people butchering their songs in a cringe worthy musical, it's right up there with sticking pins in my eyes. As much as I love Benny & Björn ... I can't bear anything to do with the musicals/movies. I feel the same about anyone else who sings any song originally done by The Beatles Alex, just no!

I'm a bit take it or leave it with The Beatles, but appreciate what they did for the music industry and that pretty much everyone I adore listening to were inspired by them! I've thought of an album I could probably sing along to without too much trouble: Long before I was aware of 80s a-ha, we had this album! When it came out, in fact, so that's 2002. I recently bought my own copy when it wormed its way back into my subconscious. If anyone's not familiar, I can particularly recall singing this one all those years ago (and now, while driving!).

Like you with Abba, people assume that as I am a Beatle fan, I like everything associated with them, but no, just the band themselves. I realise I am taking this off topic but this always makes me laugh.
