Boxing fans aside, I think boxing is an art. I train a couple of times a week at a boxing gym and I can tell you that boxers are supremely fit. Just punching flat out for 10 seconds takes it out of your arms, legs and lungs.
To last 10-12 rounds, keeping guard, jabbing, moving, takes immense stamina and mental toughness. Added to that, you need to ensure you don't get hit and if you do, you brush it off and carry on. Boxers have my utmost respect, truly sportsmen.
Lighter weight division boxers I think are more skillful than the heavyweights, I'd rather watch a fly or welterweight than the likes of the heavyweights.

I quite like boxing too it's good exercise and builds agility and fitness, apart from football it's the only other sport I do watch a bit on TV. I watched the Ruiz v Joshua rematch over the weekend

Training & boxing at a local gym I can understand, it's watching it ( at least on tv, I've never seen a fight in person ) that leaves me cold & the hype/money that surrounds it, though that applies to many sports today.

I cannot stand the hype/razamatazz in any sport, it's not needed. It's usually there to justify the exorbitant entry fee for the punter. Boxing can be frustrating since it must be one of the only sports where you don't really know how long it's going to last. It could go the distance or be over in one or two rounds. That's one of the reasons I'd never purchase a pay per view bout.

Suppose it's now the modern day version of this?
None of them are fit to lace Ali's gloves.

Bloody heck. If someone described this scene to me, I'd have had them committed...
Len Rossier in a Boxing Ring in long shorts, being refereed by Derek Griffiths... surreal or what?!

Why in the name of Frank Haskins is the Syfy channel showing The Sweeney at 11pm tonight? The naff 2012 version. It was crap but not sci-fi crap.
