Hate to be the one to say it but that unpleasant find in Essex reminds me of 'In From The Cold'. I'm sure it's not the first time this has happened. Didn't something like this happen in the 90s at Dover? Yes, in 2000 with 58 Chinese that time.

On my way home from the station tonight I passed by a house that was resplendent in all its Christmas lights flashing away merrily. Why? There's two months to go FFS!
Anyone else got their decorations up? Mine are up … in the loft where they're staying for the next seven weeks!
Sam.

That's daft considering it's not even Halloween yet!! Some people decorate their house for that!

I'm sure when I walk down to the town next week to watch the annual fireworks display I'll pass the same house that has its decorations up every year. Tesco starts selling Christmas stuff in September.

Could be Diwali.
Tescos had the 'back to school' stuff on sale at the end of June - 4 weeks before the 6 weeks holidays started. I noticed the Christmas stuff appearing in September too.
Easter stuff will be on the shelves soon...
On the Fireworks thing... an update on those doofers chucking fireworks from the car.... They've been nicked - as had to make a statement.
Amusingly, the copper who took the statement was called Hargreaves....... He couldn't understand what it was I found funny when he introduced himself.

We put our decorations up the weekend before Christmas Day. I say 'we', it's always muggins who has to go in the loft & get the stuff down & put it up & then take it down & put it back again.
If those lights weren't for Diwali then they must've been doolally

Pretty much what we do, it surely feels more special done that way.
Well as a kid it did.
