I quite like this cover and it's one that could go either way but... I think that you may have intended to put this in the "Cover versions you prefer" thread DE, but for me I think it fits in this thread perfectly. Sam.

I've never been a fan of Barry White but this came on the Now 70s channel last night, the perfect cover version candidate for Room 101:
Here's the original and by far the better version:
I suppose Billy Joel earned royalties from it but the supposed "Walrus of Love" really didn't do it any justice.

I've never been keen on Barry White either. He did one which I thought was passable, You see the trouble with me, and that was about it.

The only saving grace about this The Hollies original was re-released and went to #1 when this came out in '88... Shudder to think Giorgio Moroder produced it too. Not his finest hour!

From the moment the music starts you realise this going to be excruciating.... but it's actually worse than that :-

Thanks Windy, I've had that going through my head since. In desperation I sought solace in Youtube but then this cropped up:
I was very saddened to hear of Terry's passing but also saddened by this cover with Sinead. I wonder what Dana thought of it?

I posted The La's version in the One Hit thread, this version from Six Pence None The Richer is total pony in comparison...

Thanks Windy, I've had that going through my head since. In desperation I sought solace in Youtube but then this cropped up: That look from Terry at 46 seconds - "To think I used to sing socially aware songs like Rat Race and Ghost Town".
