It's Monaco GP weekend. I do enjoy watching this circuit a lot. There are so many bends (love the 'U' one when they completely turn around) and some of those buildings are so close. Also love the seascape. What a life to live there ! I know Dan Ricciardo lives in Monaco and probably quite a few other drivers. I currently have a free trial of Foxtel so I watched the practice runs last night. In the off track time they had Nico Rosberg (I liked Nico when he raced) and his Dad racing around the track in the cars they had won GPs in ! Wow that's great track entertainment. In Australia we had the ultimate speed test between cars, the same every year.

I'd say Danny has a very good chance of taking the top step this weekend. The Red Bull pace yesterday was electrifying as they smashed the lap record. Could be a different story in qualifying tomorrow but it is a fantastic start for Ricciardo and Verstappen so far.

They all have some new supersoft tyres that is reported to add a second a lap. That should certainly add an interesting element to the race this year. Monaco is the finest street circuit in the world for the aesthetics sadly there's nowt they can do to improve the racing. The best races have always been when a touch of rain turns up.

The best races have always been when a touch of rain turns up. Apart from '92 when Mansell was heading for six wins out of six races but then got a puncture, handing the lead to Senna. What an epic race for the win between them that was! Sam

I remember watching it and shared in Mansell's frustration as he failed to get past the rolling road block that was Senna. While I do agree that the above race was exciting to watch this race typifies the issues with the Monaco track. The biggest issue here is when a slower car takes a middle line the faster cars on the day can't pass. I hoped that Mansell could find a way past the IMO overrated Senna. Unfortunately the issues with this track ended up being the tool Senna employed to defeat Nige.

Red Bull mechanics will have their work cut out for them as front wing, rear wing, floor, and more needed replacing on Verstappen's car when he hit the barrier in FP3. Not long until Qualifying time. Fox Sports just showed a very interesting race by race highlights of the entire 1995 F1 season. This was the final year that Adelaide hosted the Australian Formula One race before it moved to Melbourne. Schumacher of course dominated in 1995 but what surprised me was the number of cars that left the raceway onto grass or kitty litter and managed to make it back onto the track. These days it seems that the cars damage more easily when they leave the track.

Well done Dan Ricciardo on winning with a car down on power. Yesterday's race proves what we were saying about the tracks lack of racing though. Hamilton made a comment about it after the race and felt that teams were not pushing in order to save tyres and make it a one stop race. The result of that was zzzzzzzzzzz.
Verstappen did well to make it into the point's with a few nice overtakes but all in all I'm glad i watched it 30 mins later so i could FWD a few laps here and there when nothing was happening.
The answer needs to be tyres that improve the racing here ? Seeing as there's not a lot that can be done about the circuit to improve overtaking oppourtunites.
