Yeah they do like a drink don't they! Another rare one here, a S1 XJ6 4.2 manual, not easy to find in good nick as about 90% were autos, unusual colour too but very period correct.... www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1187321Villain

That's the same colour that Dad's J regd Austin 1100 was, it was called Lime flower. Of the XJ6s, I like the early series 1 cars best. I drove a K regd 2.8 manual once, the only Jag I've ever driven.

Looks quite tidy, but seems very expensive for a 4 cylinder P6.
The advert states original paintwork, however the badges on the front wings are mounted too high so that shows that it’s neither original paint or original front wings.
The door mirrors look wrong also.
Sorry to be picky!

Crikey, that's a good spot! You must know your Rovers! I had a 3500 P6 many years ago and was very particular that it should look factory correct, so these things stand out to me a mile off - even more so when the advert states the car is in original paint! The Saint

The door mirrors look wrong also. Sorry to be picky! The Saint I hadn't noticed the badge position, well spotted Saint! You're probably right about the relatively high asking price with it being a four pot but it does look like a good one. Prices have been rising a bit lately with some very nice examples out there, you do have to be careful with these though as I'm sure you know only too well, they're easy to bodge up behind the shiny panels and it's quite easy to fake certain specs too. Those door mirrors look more like standard BL dealership affairs, all three of my P6s had the much more elegant looking type with the longer bases and angled stalks. The blue on this car looks like a BL shade from another range, not quite right for a '73 P6. Besides prevaricating about the Italian stuff I yearn for I've been looking into old Rovers and Jags again, if I do have another P6 it'll be my fourth and will need to be something special, most definitely a V8 and preferably a manual one as I've never owned one of these before. Similar thing applies to the P5B Coupes too, another one of these fine old hooligan's barges would have to tick all the right boxes regarding colour combos and condition, history etc. Doing the, er... 'research' is part of the fun really and it can sometimes pay extra dividends, for example a while back I was looking at a particular P5B Coupe on ebay which looked like a goer but the ad was woefully written with less than satisfactory photos, but a bit of digging on my part unearthed some high res photos of the same car elsewhere which made it a better prospect, it was much nicer than it looked in the ebay ad. Alas it sold very soon afterwards and I missed out, but it's always nice knowing where these cars are or where they've been advertised in the past. Does anyone else on here spend far too much time looking at online classic car adverts....? Villain
