The first car is a good example, but I've never been a fan of the baby shit colour.

The P6 colour chart was full of baby shit options with two different puke yellows and three different shades of brown, a few of which even appeared on some P5s as well. I've always liked Tobacco Leaf on P6s though, simply because it's so '70s. The first P6 I ever went to look at with a view to buying was this colour and the previous owner had changed the original pale tan leather interior for a newer mango orange cloth one, it was quite a sight for sore eyes, topped off with a brown vinyl roof and matching 'Huntsman' brown sill panels. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea but to my biased eyes it was the dog's b*ll*cks. The £1200 asking price was about £300 more than I could afford at the time, this was the early '90s when £1000+ would get you a minter and this particular car was very nice indeed, a 3500 auto with factory fitted power steering, new carpets, S wheel trims and the boot mounted spare wheel kit. The latter in reality is a pain in the Aris' if you're only 5'3'', as it completely fills the rear view mirror... . One of the rarest colours on a P6 is Paprika, an orangey red which looks great if all the right options are on the car. Villain

I bet if you asked them nicely they would have accommodated you, yes...! This P6 is a car I know, or knew when one of the previous owners had it, it was owned by a chap called Dave 'Pilkie' Pilkington, a regular on the P6 forum and was his daily transport for a while, a much loved car which was very well looked after when he had it.... www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1187738Villain

Here is a link to a very late Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 2 that was actually owned by my dad's uncle between 1985 and 1993, this was the car that got me into classics, especially RR and Bentley. I probably only saw it a dozen times in the 8 years that my great uncle owned it, when he sold it in 1993 it had only done 30k miles. It's only done 56k miles now! It is the best colour scheme in my opinion, Le Mans Blue with Beige interior, much better than some of the drab 70s colours that many of these cars were painted. Being a 1981 car it is probably in the final batch of Shadows to be produced, as it's replacement the Silver Spirit had been launched in October 1980. When I was a child/teenager it was my dream car and it still is today. It is great to see that it has been looked after so well since my great uncle sold it in 1993, I actually went to see the car in 2017 when it was previously up for sale and the owner at the time was kind enough to let me have a couple of hours with the car and take me out for a drive, prior to that the last time I had a ride in the car was back in 1992. The car was sold again very recently and I only found the below link after it had been sold, I would really like to own it - maybe one day it will come up for sale again. Since I saw it in 2017 it has had a few "upgrades" that I am not keen on, these being the bumper mounted number plate, clear indicator lenses on the front and side, and the much later Silver Spirit 2 steering wheel, although these can all be removed and put back to factory spec very easily. It's a bit of a mystery as to why it’s had Silver Spirit (Jaguar XJ) door mirrors fitted as they are very similar to the originals anyway! www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1142530The Saint

That is one beautiful car ST. I agree, the colour is superb and the interior is pure class. A great back story too and very interesting that you've been able to follow it's history. Hope you get your wish and own it one day. Thanks for posting Gene.

The Saint Old Pilkie liked to add his own personal touches but the extra V8 badges on the wings aren't my thing either. The 'R O V E R' lettering on the bootlid is kosher for some '70 / '71 P6s as some left the factory with a mixture of series 1 and 2 badges, but the positioning of it on this car is rather suspect! I'd love a Silver Shadow or Bentley T1 / T2 but it would be a real squeeze in my garage, more's the pity as there some really nice example for sale at the moment. I looked at a few at the recent NEC show and drooled a fair old bit... it doesn't help seeing them pop up in 'Minder' so often, which I'm tucking into again. Villain
