Has anyone else watched the film 'Don't Panic Chaps!' on talkingpictures? It was on yesterday. One unlikely scene features George Cole taking his clothes off ( all of them btw ) & taking a dip in the sea. This must've been hot stuff when it was shown in 1959 as you get to see his bare backside & possibly his meat & two veg making an appearance. I say possibly because talkingpictures censored the scene by placing a big blurry circle on Cole's 'aris area! I'm also sure I saw a brief flash of intimate hair as Cole covers himself up. Gertan Klauber from 'Queen's Pawn' is also in the scene.
What's stranger still is the fact that a few hours later Minder was on ITV4 & they were showing 'Dead Men Do Tell Tales' which features another George Cole nude scene with one of his co-stars from 'Don't Panic Chaps!', Harry Fowler!

I believe they’re showing a selection of the remaining black and white episodes and all of the colour ones. This was last repeated on channel 4 in 1984, and is overdue a repeat viewing. Probably a bit ‘wordy’ by modern standards, but full of top notch acting and drama. A lost classic (like Public Eye) getting a dusting off. Well done Talking Pictures TV 👍

They're showing 1970 Armchair Theatre plays each Sunday, tomorrow it's 'Say Goodnight To Your Grandma' written by & starring Colin Welland.
I wonder if talkingpictures have struck a deal with Network as lately they seem to be showing a lot of stuff released by them, Callan included.

I watched the one last Sunday with Billie Whitelaw. Some kind of comment on sexual desire. Not much of a story but interesting none the less. Ms Whitelaw was a fair looking bird as well as a fine actress back in the day.

Yes they can be slow and obscure & the videotaped look ages them but they're interesting for the period charm alone.
Looks like they're showing the plays contained in Network's 'Armchair Theatre Volume 1' set as the week before the Billie Whitelaw one they showed 'A Bit Of A Lift' with Ronnie Fraser. Welland's play won a BAFTA.

Not sure if it's me.
I find that the quality of most Video productions from this era - the early years of colour -seem much a better quality than many made in the 90s!
Looks a good buy that DVD.

I bought a couple of volumes of Armchair Theatre from Network about eighteen months back. I still haven't watched them all yet. Maybe the demand for them wasn't that great. Some of the plays they're showing don't seem to be in my set though. There was a good one on last week with Ronald Fraser and Donald Churchill who wrote it. I'm really glad TP are showing them though.
