Interesting list and most will have perished due to tin worm and our own insatiable need to upgrade. In contrast I believe the Morris Minor survives in reasonable numbers as the monocoque body was made of thicker steel, it has the indomitable A series engine to power it, and of course it worked its way into our affections like no other car.

I always tend to think the Minor survives so well due to not having a flat piece of steel on it! All those curves - the water doesn't hold anywhere on it!
Gene.

Surprised at so many Audi's making the list. Loved the VW Santana.

I'm sure there's a lot of other examples of these cars laying undiscovered or on SORN too. Sometimes they appear on Ebay or at auctions

Good article. Like steve I was surprised to see so many popular cars on the list like the Audi, Toyota and so many French cars especially the Renault 5. They seemed to be everywhere at one point.

Interesting. Quite a lot on the list are obscure ones from the 80s and 90s which no one was ever very interested in and therefore unlikely to attract interest as preservation projects. Of the others, there are some which are much older and still survive in some numbers, like Cortinas and Capris for example. This suggests that their numbers have stabilised and are now owned pretty much exclusively by enthusiasts.
