I came across this film when I was in my local HMV. I wasn't aware of it, not sure if anyone else had heard anything about it. It's a French film with English subtitles and stars Jean Reno as Buren, a legendary cop famous for bending the rules. In the Paris underworld his team aren't afraid to use their muscles and guns to enforce the law however they see it. With their every move under the scrutiny of Becker, their new boss, Buren knows his time is running out. I think it was made in 2015.

Yes I remember seeing info & pictures of the production of this film a couple of years ago. Might be wrong but I think this replaced plans to do a second Nick Love Sweeney film that ( thankfully ) fell through, not sure if this was because the first film didn't do well or Winstone wasn't interested. The film's original title is 'Antigang' as obviously 'The Sweeney' means nothing to the French, but in a nod to the Sweeney 'Buren''s sidekick is called 'Cartier'! Judging by the mostly poor reviews it sounds like a remake of Love's film only worse ( if that's possible! ).

Mind you with Jean Reno in it could be interesting?

It says in the credits it's based on a storyline by Nick Love and John Hodge who wrote the Ray Winstone script, so it appears to be a remake of the 2012 film. I'll let you know if it is when i've watched it, and if it's any good.

Jean Reno is normally quite good but I doubt that'll save it.

With the exception of one or two small differences Sweeney Paris follows the same plot line as The Sweeney so in essence is a remake of the 2012 film. I don't think i'd recomend it other than to satisfy you're curiosity which is the reason i bought it.

Thanks for the review mate. Reckon I'll look out for it on Film4 or something but doubt I'll bother buying it.

Wonder why they thought the tag line "From the makers of The Sweeney" would make people buy it!!

I take it Monsieur Regan, Monsieur Carter and Monsieur Haskins won't be staging a car chase round the Eiffel Tower and through the Arc-de-Triomphe in this effort then?
Here's an idea... How about "Sweeney in Italy".... they could be on the case looking for some stolen gold, which is being transported across Turin in 3 Mini's. the gold is transferred to a Coach which gets stuck on a cliff edge at the end...
Don't think this has been done before.
