I would love to see this happen.
I think they'd have to be careful over the period in which it is set though. We know from Ashes To Ashes that Sam met his demise while working for Gene but that the demise pre-dates Alex appearing. It would therefore be feasible that as Gerry Burtonshaw mentioned it could be set in the latter part of the 70's.
Summer of '76 maybe? Or '79 in the lead up to the General Election and Maggie getting in? Or maybe '77 with the deaths of Marc Bolan and Elvis (Sam did give Marc a warning when he saw him at Stephen Warren's after all!)
And as for a motor it could well be a yellow mk4 2.0S Cortina...

I think a film could work, but ONLY if it has the original cast and original writers, otherwise they should leave it alone.

I think Summer 76 would be a fantastic choice. It would evoke a lot of memories of what was one of the most famous years not only of the 70s but in the last 40 years.

Any of those years would be the same challenge as the original series to make to get the set to look and feel 70's.
They have already proved it can be done.

Summer of '76 please, that is, providing they don't cock it up and its authentic. '76 is my favourite year of all time, and needs to be treated with respect, it was too unbelievably ace for words!
Also, Gene can still drive the Mark 3 Cortina as they were current until September '76 when the Mark 4 took over.

All good ideas posted here. As Saint says as long as Phil, John and the original crew are involved and put something together as good as the TV series wouldn't argue with a film version being made but only if it still has these original elements. Could also be a good missing link between the original series and A2A too.

There would surely be an extra few officers who joined them during that time, and to see what happened with Sam Tyler and Annie.

Well put Batgirl. Also what could be a good idea could be the transfer of Gene, Ray and Chris (maybe with Sam and Annie) to London too and it could play out well with a 1976 Punk/Anarchist or 1977 Punk/Silver Jubilee storyline. I suppose it all depends upon whether Phil and John want to reprise their roles again as both actors aren't really typecast by LOM/A2A - Phil perhaps less so, and they've both been in good subsequent projects since. BTW has anyone seen anything of Phil Glenister in Outcast?

Sam & Annie are with me & Bols most nights down Luigis and occasionally in The Railway Arms.
