Breaking news that Philip Glenister & John Simm have been discussing the idea of making a Life On Mars Movie. Both actors are very interested in the idea...
When asked by Radio Times if he would do it, Philip Glenister said "Oh yeah, I'd do it, yeah, you bet!" and went on to reveal that he and John Simm were talking about it a while back and that John would be up for it.
I expect a few responses will be along the lines of "leave it alone" but I for one would LOVE to see this happen. Gene.

Interesting. I'm on the fence on this and not too upset if they did make a movie. One idea which could be interesting is flipping things and taking Gene forward to 2006 or present day with Sam which could put Gene out of his depth rather than Sam/Alex in the original series. Still if it does go ahead probably it'll be a straight forward remake. Still at least it's not a Nick Love revamped Sweeney eh?

It could work out well this if it goes ahead. I would be interested to see it and hope they make it It will all be down to the quality of the script really as the TV show was ultimately about Sam Tyler's journey back to consciousness. As we know this main story line was concluded so where will they go with this opportunity.

Agree with the above and look forward to further developments on this with interest, it would be great to see the original cast reunited, including the Ray, Chris and Annie characters too. Personally I think there's scope for having an episode set in the later 70's, around 1976-79 with real life events as a interesting backdrop. I hope it's not just a reboot of the original story as we know that.
But of course Sam stayed around in 1973 onwards, and wouldn't be a bad idea to set it in a later year given the actors are slightly older now. Question is; would it be set in Manchester or London?
And another point..... what flash motor would Gene be driving a bit later on??! ;-)

I like the idea of this a lot ! If the same writers are involved in the script then I'd say Brilliant !
