It's not a bad film and I love the location filming in London in 75, however I have a problem with John Wayne, I struggle a bit watching him because, in my opinion, he was such a rubbish actor, and the fact that he was a right wing crank who actively assisted McCarthy in the blacklisting of actors in the US in the early 50s tends to stand in the way of me liking his performances You're about being a right nut, he almost assaulted Barry Norman who was left wing during an interview. The blacklisting was appalling. I have to say I rate him as actor, True Grit was an excellent western. Sure he did some duds though.

I've just remembered something else about John Wayne, apparently he was obsessed with the supposed reds under the bed anti communist paranoia of the early 50s that Stalin considered sending a hit man to the US to take him out!

Knock knock!
I really don't like John Wayne at all, but this is the only film of his I'll ever tolerate.
Because it's 70s Lahndahn. On some of the street scenes, you can really imagine that a brown Consul GT is passing by en route to a blag.
Lots of Brit stars of the time popping up. Although there is Dickie Attenborough as the police chief. I bet he never had to escort drunks out of football grounds and direct traffic before he got to where he got to.
And I've always hated the obvious cheat put in for the 'merican audience. We see the New Scotland Yard sign outside the usual at the time New Scotland Yard building (RIP) as an establishing shot, but Dickie's office appears to be in St Thomas's Hospital, and at the corner which handily affords the views of Houses of Parliament, Westminster Bridge and the Thames.
And I've often wondered if that had always been a bit of Piccadilly Circus building that was free of a billboard, or whether it happened to be removed at the time of filming.
Then there's Judy Geeson of course. Stop that letching Wayne, you dirty old man.
