I caught an episode of Spooks being re-run from series one on the Drama channel, and decided to watch it properly again (ie without the adverts) and got the boxed set out to re-watch it. I'm on series 3 now, already one character has bit the dust, and the new guy brought in. Maybe it was this continual overlap of characters then kept it interesting, although it was a shame to lose some characters. It also had equally strong female characters (goodies and baddies!) like Jenny Agutter and Gemma Craven. Ruth was also brilliant, and I was pleased they kept her character so long.
It's amazing how prescient some of the episodes and storylines are (resurgent Russia, current middle-east situation), and this was all best part of 10 years ago. The cast was really good, and caught the earlier phases of some really good actors like Keely Hawes, David 'now in Hollywood' Oyelowo, and Rupert Penry-Jones. There were some fabulous cameos from people like Tim McInnery (being REALLY creepy!), and Hugh Laurie being delightfully dotty.
Pretty amusing how out of date some of some of their mobile phones already are!
Personally, I thought it was great up to series 9, but series 10 was pretty rubbish, I'd lost interest in all the characters by then as there was no link to the original line-up.
Anyone else revisited this series since the first time round?

I only ever caught one or two of these shows when they were originally broadcast. I thought they were well made but i never really got into it. A year or two later we always watched the U.S version of the show (whose name escapes me ) it was definitely a version of Spooks. Maybe it was made on license.

I have only seen one of these as well. I think I was so bored one evening that I decided to watch an episode. It seemed OK at the time but I don't really remember it that well! Maybe I was p****d. Vi
