In Blackpool over the weekend to attend a convention. Chris Evans and team filming in front of hotel. Driving open top Land Rover up and down promenade.
Hard to imagine new incarnation of series but looked like a lot of effort being made in poor conditions.

I saw in yesterday's papers that Matt LeBlanc and Chris Evens were driving Reliant Robins in a challenge, one painted with the stars and strips, the other painted with the union flag.
All new Top Gear? Really?
Challenges? Reliant Robins? Now where have I seen that before?
Sam.

Sadly I think its doomed to fail. With Clarksons Top Gear you either like it or not and like it most of us did. This obviously won't be the same with the matey banter etc and stupid challenges that were obviously staged but I think it just won't cut the mustard. Evans is likable enough but they are trying to carry on something that belongs to someone else.

I think it will be like a hybrid of old Top gear and Clarkson's Top Gear. The would be crazy to try to continue the old format.

Not surprised really. Watched one and didn't think much of it.

It was Eddie Jordan that irritated me more than Chris Evans. Thought he was embarrassing to watch. No timing.

I think when the original controversey hit the fan with Clarkson the BBC should've done a new show rather than trying to continue Top Gear with new presenters badly trying to be like the old ones. Also when they hired Chris Evans... it sort of nailed the coffin for me as I can't stand him if I'm being honest! Never saw a episode of this series so don't really know whether it was good or bad but I reckon Evans decsion to quit is two fold. First he's such control freak and doesn't like to be associated with failures and second is it to bury this piece of bad news which came out yesterday too? Sure Evans will bounce back though... he always seems too!
