Here is another from Old London Mush, this time from central Horseguards Parade in 1964:
And again courtesy of Google:
A quieter day and a lot less horse poo! The building is so much cleaner now too.

Great pictures Sam, thanks for posting
Love the quietness of the Brook Green picture. Reminiscent of my early starts on Meet days.

The Brook Green picture is great,in fact both of the recent pics are (Brook Green and Horseguards). All the Brook Green pic needs is NHK crawling into shot.......with a bit of the 'suspense' music.

Nice photo. Looking at the motors i would guess about 1973 74. I say that because the Austin 1300 motor on the foreground left appears to have a yellow number plate. Another cracking shot there Sam, very nice . I reckon it could be much earlier though, c.1970ish judging by the street furniture... those reflective number plates were generally available from '67 onwards although some high end dealerships had them on posh cars in their showrooms in '65. A case in point is Harold Radford's showroom at 124 King Street, Hammersmith, one of their early Mini Cooper S specials had reflective plates on from new on a C reg', the car still exists and still wears its original plates. Reflective plates were mandatory from early '73 onwards which probably explains why a lot of people think they were only introduced in that year. It didn't stop people from fitting the old style black and white plates though - in October '73 BL produced an advert for the Mini 1275 GT with the car wearing b&w plates on an M reg'! Villain

Cheers for clearing the number plate thing up Villian. I thought there was a big swap over to the new style stuff but that clearly isn't the case. I recall now that Parker told me that FD Victor's wore the reflective plates from the late 60's

A couple more offerings with thanks to Old London Mush @london_mush:
The first is of The Palace Of Westminster taken from Parliament Street across Parliament Square:
And here is the up to date view courtesy of Google:
Aside from the traffic islands and the traffic lights it would seem that little has change over the years!
And now taken from Lambeth Bridge towards the Palace Of Westminster:
And the view that can be seen today:
It would seem that the passing of time has not impacted on the barges just past the houseboats but it is clear that the London Eye and St Thomas's Hospital have had considerable impact on the south bank.
Thanks again to Old London Mush.
