I happened to be in a multi storey shopping complex at the 11am commemoration time. Seeing many many people (actually everyone in view across 3 levels) stop where they were and reflect at the announcement and playing of 'The Last Post' and then observe the minute's silence was respectful and moving. Together but very much individually thinking of those who had served. It is such a little thing to do but so important. Lest we Forget.

Same here at work. My request was not met with any moans or groans. Just total respect. And so it should.

Sadly I'm p***ed off now: The whole company here were asked to observe two minutes silence but one colleague remained tapping away at his PC then started to try to strike up a conversation with me. I ignored him three times before snapping, and breaking my silence in the process, to tell him through gritted teeth "Shut the f*** up you twat, not now, show some respect!" Some people!

I totally agree, I also observed this both on last Sunday when I watched the ceremony on the TV and today at 11. There was still the odd colleague tapping on their computer during that time (I think some people just forget..)so it is a bit disconcerting. However I did watch with interest the different types of groups being hounhoured on Sunday (and so they should), and it should be a reminder every year to what these people did and are still doig for us. Wearing my poppy today too.

The train service continues here but passengers are asked to join in and observe the silence. The auto announcer "Sonia" is cancelled and a radio silence is in operation for the two minutes.

Two minute silence was observed impeccably at my work. A guy announced the start and end of the observance over the building's PA system.

I happened to be entering a branch of McDonalds around 11.00am this morning. A member of staff then announced to customers that there was going to be a two minute silence - it seemed to be observed by everybody in the restaurant.
