Another electronic disaster at my house occurred on the weekend with my Blackberry falling to the floor and the 'white screen of death' displaying with no hope of recovery. In thinking about the next phone I buy I wondered what are the preferred mobile phones of those on 4:3TV The Retro Channel ? What's your pick, Blackberry, iPhone, Samsung, others etc. ?

Hi Batgirl currently I'm using a iPhone 5C. Not bad but used to have a Sony Xperia and many of the similar stuff on the Apple is all app related compared to standard kit on the Sony.

I have an old iphone 4 which does me fine. I've got loads of music on there, got my apps, can play videos and take pics (badly), phone and text etc.
Nearly every phone can do this these days and the bottom line is your budget. The only gripe I have with the iphone is being tied into the itunes store, not that I have purchased anything from there. All the music on my phone is from my cd collection and then transferred by syncing but apart from that no issues with it at all. I do like the imessage feature which lets you send texts/video call (facetime) to other iphone users free
I haven't heard many positives about the windows phone but HTC, Apple, Samsung and Sony are all pretty reliable.

I had a Windows phone 8 and hated it. Mainly because it lags behind Apple and Android in terms of features, apps but worst of all any bugs etc are left for ages with updates only sporadic. Awful support from microsoft.
After that I went over to Android Samsung Galaxy S4 and i love it and will definitely buy another. For me Android is the best OS out there. I had an Ipad 3 but didn't like the Apple OS software as much as Android. I find Android to be the more user friendly, although would say the Apple hardware is of better quality than the Samsung.

All good points so far so let's not let this thread descend into a "mines better than yours" exchange. I had Android for a few years on Sony dogs and had no issues with it really. I moved to an iphone 4s 3 years ago and rated the build quality of the phone better than the Sony. IOS was different but for me equally user friendly as Android. As the kids grew older and got mobiles, we all stuck to the same brand which helps in not having half a dozen different chargers around the house. At the end of the day I think it boils down to quality of handset. I know there are some cheap tacky handsets out there which look ridiculous compared to an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. All down to personal preference. Keep it clean Gene.

Have a Samsung Galaxy myself - got used to it and quite like it. Wi-Fi is sometimes an issue and trying to scroll up and select pictures on the phone is a bit fiddly but apart from that - all cool.
