RIP Bill Withers, some memorable music, Lovely day has often been used in things like adverts, and a great innings.

More sad news I must admit that I've not really followed his music much but I've always had an appreciation for Ain't No Sunshine and Lean On Me. R.I.P. Bill

RIP Bill thanks for the music and memories.
Suppose everyone remembers him for Lovely Day but like Sam says quite liked Ain't No Sunshine too.

I found out on 6 Music that Larry Sherman the founder of Trax Records has died. www.theguardian.com/music/2020/apr/10/larry-sherman-dies-trax-dance-music-label-chicagowww.residentadvisor.net/news/72416Yes you can say Sherman was an entrepreneur who perhaps more by luck and accident touched lucky on the birth of House Music in Chicago and there’s plenty of tales of the musician’s themselves not getting what was rightfully due to them for the music and the musical legacy they created. However without Trax and Sherman many of the original and classic Chicago House records would never have broken out of the Midwest let alone gone international and created the club and Dance Music scene we have known now and over the last 30 odd years.
You could argue the spread of House in the UK post-1988 perhaps opened music up in the years that followed not just for House and Dance music but to indie, rock, Britpop etc. as without it upsetting the applecart let's say the likes of S/A/W and other bland pop would have still dominated the charts into the '90's. Yes I appreciate not everyone here likes ‘House’, you might even hate it and fair enough each to your own. For me Larry deserves a mention and many of the artists and tracks he put out have been a part of something I’ve enjoyed since I first heard them as a kid! RIP Larry thanks for the legacy. Let there be House!
