Today is the 40th anniversary of Ian Curtis's death. The circumstances are tragic and well known and hopefully you'd like to think there is much more support and help for people in the situation Ian was in. I'm more if a New Order fan than Joy Division but have over the last couple of decades got into and enjoyed much of what Joy Division were able to do in the 2-3 or so years they had and regardless of how Ian felt 40 years ago he can be proud of the legacy he and Joy Division left behind and the legacy that New Order and Factory took forward. Seems like only yesterday The Late Show did a feature on the 15th anniversary in 1995 sadly it seems to have been taken down by YouTube. Don't get me wrong Ian had flaws some of which he could have avoided and his marital problems with Deborah and affair with Annik Honoré added fuel to the fire of the depression and epilepsy he was suffering. I'd sooner like to remember and enjoy the good things about Joy Division and what Ian contributed to it and there's plenty of stuff online today to celbrate Ian's life, work and what he mean't to his bandmates, fans and those close to him. RIP Ian Curtis 15th July 1956 - 18th May 1980
