I never knew that Alan Ember's wife was called Margot. I don't recall her name being mentioned in the episode. I have The Sweeney companion, suppose I should read it again!!

Just watched an episode of The Gentle Touch written by Roger Marshall that is basically a reworking of his own Feet Of Clay.
Joss Ackland plays a man being blackmailed by telephone, the twist being that the blackmailer is his bitter daughter who like Paul Ember fiercely resents dad. Even some of the dialogue is nearly the same- 'Why? You had everything you ever wanted' he says to his daughter as he confronts her.
It's on dailymotion & youtube if you want to see it despite my spoilers-

Ah that's interesting Roger Marshall rehashed it for that Gentle Touch episode Arthur. I've noticed that on a few things like Taggart for example where a similar storyline is re-used sometimes quite soon after the original episode was made I've seen at least 10 odd Taggart episodes which have strong similarities to a earlier storyline, characters, situation with a few tweaks and changes. Also they were classic for recycling actors in episodes a lot, lot more than twice too.
Don't really like or dislike The Gentle Touch but it's something that's never really gripped me, drawn me into it in ways other things have. Again not to say it's good or bad just never really had much of a thing for it in similar ways I have to things like The Bill, The Avengers/New Avengers, London's Burning etc.
Good spot again Arthur, wonder if any more Sweeney-rip off's are knocking around?

I noticed that when i was doing my Taggarthon like Colin Mcredie and John Michie both played suspects in earlier episodes lol

I don't mind this episode. Yes, there are some weird bits in it, but I quite like the pattern whereby Jack is stepping back down memory lane with Joss' character after obvious dealings in the past. This encounters are a strong point of the series, also thinking of episodes May, Money Money Money etc.
My fave part of the episode is when Regan pulls the lads story apart after he returns home. Cracking scene.
