As Charles mentions above, he played a journalist in the sci-fi movie 'The Day the Earth Caught Fire', probably one of his best remembered film roles. I also remember him in the films Island of Terror and The Vault of Horror.

If you watch The Day The Earth Caught Fire & think that the guy who plays the editor of the paper isn't a very good actor, it's because he wasn't an actor at all, he played himself in the film, he was the retired editor of The Daily Express. He went on to play another news editor in another Val Guest film recently shown on talkingpicturestv '80,000 Suspects'.
