Thanks for the memories Dennis and RIP

Sad news
I grew up with Dennis
I still love The Sweeney and, to a lesser extent, Minder
But then we all do right?
RIP DW

Just read the news about Dennis ten minutes ago. Hard to take it in. The good thing is that Dennis had a cracking career and hopefully a happy life.
RIP Dennis.

Terribly sad news. I absolutely loved watching Minder (the Terry McCann years) and also The Sweeney. Up The Junction is one of my very favourite films. Thanks Dennis for all of the great TV stuff that you made

Very sad news! Sad to see the loss of Dennis, he contributed so much to so many TV series over the years. Yes The Sweeney and Minder were key programs but I also remember him with Sam Kelly, Judy Buxton and Joan Sims in "On The Up", with Patricia Hodge and Julie T. Wallace in "The Lives and Loves of a She-Devil", as well as Jan Francis in "Stay Lucky". Very few of the regular Sweeney cast remaining now. R.I.P. Dennis

Couldn’t believe it when I heard earlier. A big part of my life watching Dennis in The Sweeney and Minder and enjoyed New Tricks. Even though of course he’d aged …..he just never felt like he was an old man ……….was so lucky to get to meet him and chat with him . I’d like to think he done what he wanted and enjoyed his life . Still always thought I’d meet him again at one of our Sweeney get togethers. R.I.P Dennis ……….we won’t stop enjoying your work and at some point Sweeney it up as a mob around some of the Series haunts !!!! It’s how I met a lot of the original members on here. Sad day lads. Cheers

Sad to hear this news today.
Had a great career and portrayed characters who are firm favourites with so many.
RIP Dennis Waterman

RIP Dennis.
Like everyone else I was shocked to see this news though 74 is a good age all considering, John Thaw had just turned 60 when he died. Garfield Morgan was 78.
Strangely enough I bought the film 'Fright' a few hours earlier in the day before reading of his death.
