Powerhouse Films - producers of the newly remastered Ian Hendry 1973 movie Assassin (to be released on Blu-Ray with other Pemini productions in May) - asked me to make a little commentary on the career of the late, great Ian Hendry (1931-1984). I wrote Ian's biography, Send in the Clowns, so I guess that's why they approached me. To my amazement they have used all of my commentary and it runs to 22 minutes! It's me talking about his TV appearances and films interspersed with clips from his work as I mention them - e.g. Repulsion, The Hill, Vendetta for the Saint, Get Carter, The Lotus Eaters, The Internecine Project and For Maddie with Love. It will be released as an additional feature and it's been very professionally edited by James Blackford at Powerhouse Films. They have asked that they have exclusive rights to this for the Blue Ray release - in other words not to be released on social media for the moment. But, later on, I'm sure we can find a way to screen it and get a wider audience, i.e. not just for those who buy Assassin. My commentary also mentions Edward Woodward, who appears in one of the other Pemini films included in this boxset, Hunted. Another film that features here is Moments, a drama starring Keith Michell and Angharad Rees. All three films were written by Michael Sloan, subsequent creator of The Equalizer starring Edward Woodward, and all three films were directed very stylishly by Peter Crane. So this is the long-awaited documentary on Ian Hendry's career that I - and Ian's nephew Neil - always wanted to make. The movie Assassin itself is really enjoyable and features other stalwarts such as Frank Windsor, Mike Pratt, Ray Brooks and Edward Judd. It features great shots of the London of 1972 and an atmospheric score by Zack Laurence. The boxset is available here. www.powerhousefilms.co.uk/collections/frontpage/products/the-pemini-organisation-1972-1974-le
