Came across this documentary, it’s on iPlayer various documentaries in a series called Tuesday documentary, then it’s the one called The Block. It’s about families living in poverty in 1972, in particular these slum type flats in London called The block. Also shows other places and covers peoples plight in trying to get re housed in to better accommodation. To be honest the program is absolutely unbelievable to watch and quite sad at times, and hard to think this type of stuff went on even in the 70s with social housing. It definitely makes ya realise how fortunate you are in life! It’s so unpolitically correct! Viewing is a must!! I highly recommend ya give it a watch GC

It's an excellent documentary, I watched it a while ago.
Of the other documentaries on that page 'The Big Screen' is very good too with lots of footage of the making of David Hemmings film 'The 14'.

What I found bizarre was the bit when the woman on the stretcher is carried into the ambulance. The ambulance was basically just a white van, and all the ambulance driver did was put her in the back and then probably straight off to hospital.. She was just about covered up with the old style traditional red blanket! and that’s because she had a fag in her hand. Reminded me of the scene from LOM, when Sam confronts one of the drivers, only for him to reply, ‘I’m just the ambulance driver’ guess it’s so hard to believe how much things have changed from that year, especially in this area, but something like this stands out in my mind more than any other example ya could use, when one is comparing differences of social change etc, from the likes of 1972 to now. Funnily enough the main guy in the film, and who ran the residents association, reminded me of Eddie Boyse from the Sweeney episode Jigsaw, he also looked like him to lol!

Must watch this.
