Has anyone else been watching the latest series?
I had all but given up on this program but when I heard that it was returning to the UK and with a new mechanic then it was time to give it another chance.
Out goes the US cars, the US workshop, and (finally!) Ant Anstead. In comes cars seen on UK roads, an Oxfordshire workshop, and an ex-McLaren F1 mechanic called Mark "Elvis" Priestley.
So far so good it would seem. The format of Mike Brewer's purchasing now includes the mechanic in the discussion over the car's purchase ending the dismay/over-exuberance as the car arrives. Mark Priestley's talks to camera and explanations are also far better by being matter of fact and clear in a similar vein to how Edd China used to be.
The Bedford CA that they did was a trip down Memory Lane for me as my father converted one into a dormobile for family holidays back in the 70s, I just wish that my father had been able to uprate the engine as they did in the program. A 2-litre Ford Pinto would have got us down to Dorset noticeably quicker than the asthmatic 1500 ever could.
Sam.

I think this latest series is a big improvement now that it’s gone back to being based in the UK.
It’s now much more like it used to be in the early days of Wheeler Dealers.
I enjoyed the Mini Mk1 and the Bedford CA, I am yet to watch the other episodes.

Unfortunately I missed the one with the Mini as the episode notes said that it was an Ant Anstead episode so I'd given it a miss. By the time I'd found out it was no longer available on catchup. Give it time and it will be repeated. Sam.
