Sad to hear of the passing of songwriter Jim Steinman, the guy behind the greatest Meatloaf songs and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart".
He was heavily influenced by musicals and classic cinema and liked to create mini epic storylines in his songs. If you have a chance to see the Classic Albums episode from the mid 90s featuring "Bat Out Of Hell" it's worth watching. Jim sends himself up quite a lot and both Meatloaf and producer Todd Rundgren reveal a lot about Jim's way of working.

Not my sort of thing, but there is no denying the man's enormous talent and contribution to music culture. Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell, released in 1977 is one of the top-selling albums of all-time. RIP Jim Steinman

Bat out of hell was a phenomenal success as was Bonnie's best known smash hit.
