That postcard, the style, and deco, reminds me of Butlins from That era! It just all seemed a great decade, and so much more appealing than any other time! a time machine please! Lol

Off street parking? For anyone interested, this photo was taken in Sheffield - Google ViewThe Anglia is long gone (as is the shop), but the registration is still in use, now on a 2018 Range Rover Evoque. Gene.

I wouldn't like to forget the handbrake on that Anglia. Brilliant spot Gene thanks for sharing.

Is that a Ford Angler! Poor car, with the plate ending up on a Range Rover! That's a proper corner shop innit! They always remind me when I was a kid! Them type of corner shops always had so much in them didn't they, so many different types of choc bars and sweets in jars, and always had a few toys in to!

Quite a few things in the photo you no longer see these days. Signs outside the shop advertising tobacco, also machines either side of the door dispensing cigs and chewing gum.

It does seem quite shocking today when you look back at street photos of the 1960s, 70s and 80s and see all the tobacco advertising plastered across various shops and on many street billboards. Also, fag machines widely available too. No wonder so many people smoked in those days! Vi

A great shot from the past Gene, and thanks. Could well have been the shop owners car - I remember local little newsagents like that had the same car parked outside and confirmed when the shop manager I knew, got into it. Hope it was left in gear too!

Looking at the above image of the shop with the adverts for cigarettes etc made me think about adverts you used to see but don't anymore, such as adverts for petrol & oil. When was the last time you saw an advert for Castrol or Shell or Esso etc?

When was the last time you saw an advert for Castrol or Shell or Esso etc? I just remembered that our village undertaker in the 70s had Pink Paraffin and Esso Blue metal signs hanging outside his workshop. Strange - well even stranger to think it's taken me 40+ years to think that it's a bit odd.
