Rust and a tendency to let in rain and form a puddle in the back prompted me to sell it a few years later to a father and son who wanted a first car. That's one fault on any make of car that I really can't stand, letting in water. Especially when you can't find the bloomin leak................!

The first - a yellow Mini Metro belonging to BSM (British School of Motoring) with the pointed magnetic "L" sign on the roof which always reminded me of a dunce hat :) First car I owned after passing the test was a 1975 Mk II Escort estate which was ex Royal Navy. It still had the MOD issue fire extinguisher clipped to the centre console, though it was already 12 years old when I bought it so I doubt it would have been any use if the car started to smoke. Rust and a tendency to let in rain and form a puddle in the back prompted me to sell it a few years later to a father and son who wanted a first car. "He wants an estate so he can have birds in the back", his Dad said. Had to stop myself from replying, "probably best keep a pair of wellies in the back, then". Was that with the small Pyramid on the roof? Or have I got that mixed up with another Driving School?
My brother used to think it was a Driving School for the Illuminati....

Was that with the small Pyramid on the roof? Pyramid - that's the word I was looking for ! Yes, it was BSM that had the pyramid/dunce cap and in my case an instructor with a hiatus hernia which would play up every time I made a dangerous manoeuvre, usually tempered by him chomping a Trebor extra strong mint. He would go through a packet if I was having a bad day.

My brother used to think it was a Driving School for the Illuminati.... That's Domino's Pizza round our way! There used to be a Pizza place near me in the 1990's called Gino's which had a fleet of about 5 or 6 yellow Fiat Pandas with a giant illuminated telephone on the roof of each one. I seem to recall there being a BSM driving school car locally in the late 1980's which was a Talbot Samba Steed

Were they the Dacia of the day.? Maybe that's why ITV used to have a load of Talbots as prizes on game shows.
