On Gene 's list of Vauxhall Victors, I've driven the third one down, the 1966 version, the 101. I wasn't hugely impressed with it really, it was very bulky and underpowered. I think the best of the Victors was the second one, the 1961-4 FB, from then on, they made the mistake of making them progressive bigger and a gap opened up in the range, also it was too big to compete effectively with the Cortina but not big enough to be a Granada rival.
The initial version, the F type was one of the all time worst ever rust traps. It didn't have any chassis legs to stiffen the body so it would flex and twist, if one of the rear wheels was jacked up, the windscreen would sometimes pop out.

Vauxhall Victor FE in Feb 77, passed in June. Got a great summer job that year driving a Bedford CF for fruit and veg wholesaler. Great summer that, sun, music, girls. Not necessarily in that order. Would that be Sun, Music, Girls and Fruit then? The latter two I wouldn't even dare googling in the same search....
I am partial to a bit of fruit. Particularly melons.

Not sure out of Gene & Sam who'd be Kenneth Williams and who'd be Sid James.... "Oooh Matron, you're surrounded by Armed Bastards" doesn't seem to have the same feel to it!

Neither of us would be Kenneth Williams, that is more suited to The Saint. Del-Boy has already played Bernard Bresslaw at the Carry On meet. A better choice for Gene and I would be Sid James and Kenneth Connor - and maybe but not necessarily in that order! Sam.

My first vehicle driven was my dad’s FX4R Taxi that he bought new in 1983.

None of my family could drive so I had to wait until I did my lessons in a Nissan Sunny saloon in 1993. Think that car was a G or H plate. Before I passed I bought a Fiesta 1.0 for 200 quid. Drove that about a bit on Sunday afternoons on diy shop car parks. Handy as they weren't open Sunday in them days. P.S Sam you're Charles Hawtrey and I claim my Five Pounds
