He's a slight improvement on corbyn I suppose, but who wouldn't be? I'd go for massive improvement to be honest. Corbyn was a brief phenomenon who had no chance of being a successful PM in the unlikely event he got voted in. Starmer might be a bit wooden but he's had Johnson on the ropes a fair few time in PMQs in the Commons.

And close down the 2 extra channels they have set up in Scotland which nobody watches and is a complete waste of money.

I'm surprised Starmer hasn't got a sore arse from being sat on the fence for such a length of time - splinters and all.
He reminds me of Beaker from the Muppet Show.
(Though Beaker was entertaining).

Most PMQs, in my opinion. Johnson just dithers. I read a fair bit of news, across the political spectrum, right and left and most agree that Starmer wins the PMQs. Corbyn was hopeless. Starmer's going to be a whole lot different at the next election than him. And I've never voted Labour.

To be fair, of the very few PMQs I've seen - there was a couple of moments where Starmer did have Johnson on the ropes. For me they tended to be short bursts - just as it was getting to the interesting bit and Starmer was given the chance to steal the show, he seemed to sort of back down. He is an improvement on Corbyn, without a doubt.
Boris bumbles his way through everything.

Why is the President Of The USA's inauguration on both main terrestrial TV channels? Shouldn't this simply be an item for the news, where no doubt, it will be shown again?

I think they see this as a particularly important inauguration. Plus it might have turned into a bun fight which would have made great TV.

We read & see as much if not more about US politics than our own. If you question why there's so much coverage the media insist it's because America is the World's most powerful nation. The truth is that, compared to British & European politics, the US is a freak show & therefore makes good copy. Most representation of the US on tv is concerned with making the country look stupid & dysfunctional.
There's no good reason at all for broadcasting a US President's inauguration live on BBC1 & ITV when we have news channels where people can see it. No US station would have a live broadcast of any other nation's leader on their main tv channels. That's what annoys me, we're all supposed to be interested in America but America is not interested in us, or if they are it's in a patronising 'pat on the head' way.

The US is a freak show politically. Any country which puts the right of people to buy dangerous weapons ahead of the right to affordable universal health care is not properly civilised IMO. What really annoys me is the fact that anyone who wants to do anything even marginally not on the extreme right fringe is then accused of being "un American" or a " communist "
The Democrats would just about fit into British or European politics but the Republicans would be regarded as extremist fringe crazies

There are plenty of inappropriate people about, just don't vote them into positions of power. As to the guns, that issue is now enabling the extreme right wing as it's going to be hard to reverse. They had an assault weapons ban but reversed it in the 90's I think. Some potty female republican is insisting she carries her Glock into the chamber. Madder than a box of frogs.
