Strange because the music copyright claim against it is from a company based in the North East, maybe they didn't get permission to use a piece of music in the documentary, I don't really understand how the music copyright thing works on youtube. I can understand record companies objecting to people uploading entire albums, but how does a bit of incidental music in a documentary adversely affect a music publishing company?

I noticed this seven minute clip of Bob Hoskins with Barry Norman from 1982. Bob took Barry on a riverside walk along London's South Bank to illustrate his concerns about development in the area. Bob (May he R I.P.) has gone up hugely in my estimation after watching this. Admin note - Video link updated thanks to Three Litre

His 'mars bar' remark reminds me of Harry Shand's 'hot dog' comment in The Long Good Friday. Can't disagree with any of his sentiments, you can see he cared a great deal about his town & its people.
Barry Norman has said that he was once mistaken for a London gangster whilst having a meal with Bob Hoskins.

Here is an entertaining short film about driving safely in the dark with Colin Welland. The editor on this film edited The Italian Job & Get Carter no less & it was directed by the man who photographed 'Derek And Clive Get The Horn'

It's really good, Arthur, thanks for putting it on. I like Colin Welland anyway, and it's well filmed, some great shots of London in the late 70s.

What a great find Arthur, I love seeing London in these times, the cars, the fashions and the under-developed skyline! Wish there was a digital time machine that could take us back to some of those times... kind of like Google Street Map for 1979, wouldn't that be cool? Then again people are already able to do that from 2004 - I can even see 2008 version of my house and scan through the last 12 years of cars I've managed to squeeze on the drive ;-)

Another Collin Welland clip, here at a crown green bowls match where he does some commentating then later talks to some of the excitable crowd. I think he was about 54 here.
The crowd bit starts at 5mins in-

Yes, Dad used to watch that Crown Green bowling programme and Colin Welland presented it. Crown Green is another northern peculiarity, which I have played a few times. Everywhere else in the country has flat greens.

Firstly this a valuable thread.
Just saw a relatively new channel:
Ian's British Retro Channel
Plenty of films, tv progs and other footage not seen before.
It's only been going for 2 weeks.
Examples include Z cars, TOTP, Slade in Flame, The Reckoning.
Hope it proves helpful for members of this marvelous forum.
Cheers,
Stan
