Just wondering if anyone's heard of a sixties record producer called Joe Meek? I chanced upon a docu' on YouTube today, about his life and career leading up to his early death in '67.
There's a high quality film about him on youtube featuring among others Kevin Spacey and Pam Ferris, made in 2008. I wont put the link in for it though. I'm going to give it a viewing this evening hopefully.

Yes an interesting documentary Charles, remember seeing it on BBC4.
I watched an interesting BBC play last night on yt, 'The Black And Blue Lamp' from 1988-
"In 1949, Tom Riley is arrested for the murder of PC George Dixon. As he awaits interrogation at the station, he is mysteriously transported into an episode of "The Filth", a 1988 police series where the hard men rule"
Did the creators of 'Life On Mars' see this play? Judge for yourselves
It stars Sean Chapman doing an at times uncanny impression of Dirk Bogarde's character Tom Riley from 'The Blue Lamp'. Whilst he's heavier than Bogarde he has a look of him & his facial expressions & tone of voice are spot on. The play starts as Riley is taken by police for the murder of George Dixon ( of Dock Green ) in 1950, then we travel in time to the present day ( hence the 'Life On Mars' comparison ).
If Jack Warner had been alive to see this he would not have been pleased ( you need to watch it to discover why ).

I hope this hasn't already been put up before, profuse apoloigies if it has. In the description it says it went up on YouTube five days ago, so hopefully it's not been on here yet.

I was waching bits of that the other day Charles, I found it a bit frustrating to watch, a little too much going on with Tim Healy's narration, clips of the show, interview clips & clips of the dinner event jumbled together. Shouldn't knock it as it is was made by fans, but we could've done without that geezer singing 'That's Livin Alright' & Pants And Dreck!

Haven't watched it right through yet Arthur. I'm hoping for some background information on the shows beginnings and stuff.

I'd watched about 25 minutes of it this morning and I was finding it very enjoyable too. I enjoyed listening to the lads talk about going for their auditions and also how they were looked down on by certain people at Elstree. It had a lot of good stuff I found. I was planning to catch up on the remain 35 minutes tonight. Pity!
