Yes I was thinking about watching 'Threads' again a few days ago, that & 'Survivors'. I don't think I'll bother
The director of Threads wrote & directed this QED documentary which covers a lot of the same ground-
Thanks for posting.
I hadn't seen this before. Even some 35years on, it's pretty harrowing stuff.
A mate worked on "Threads" when it was shot in Sheffield in 1984 - at the time he was part of the CND movement - possibly still is. Not sure if he's amongst the crowd outside Sheffield Council House.
I shot an advert in Sheffield Council House in 2013, working overnight - so went for a wander. The caretaker there told me that they still have the bunker under the building. Sadly I wasn't allowed to go and see.

I was only saying to the wife about an hour ago how lucky we've been so far, for a nuclear war not to started by accident during the past seventy years. I think we've close to it a few times. I mentioned it in the context of this current situation we're in.
I dont get why there has been virtually no media speculation about whether the virus has been the result of a biological weapons leak ?

Had the virus originated in Russia I think that's the first thing people would think, but from what I've read the virus has been studied enough for them to be sure it wasn't created in a lab. The fact that China has dealt with it so promptly & apparently contained it looks suspicious to me, as is Donald Trump's lack of concern given that the US now has the highest number of cases. It's the way this virus has caught the World off guard that I don't understand, it may be a 'new' virus but we've had them of a similar type before, I'm not David Icke but something seems amiss to me.

I mentioned it in the context of this current situation we're in. I dont get why there has been virtually no media speculation about whether the virus has been the result of a biological weapons leak ? There was speculation in certain newspapers earlier this month about China starting the epidemic on purpose - following the issue of contracts and security with "Huawei" earlier this year.
The US cancelled all contracts for electronic equipment and accused them of using the equipment to Spy. We sat on the fence for a while, and then chose to only issue certain non-sensitive contracts (whatever that meant).
Trump directly accused China of starting the Epidemic, China responded by blaming the USA - telling them that the virus was brought in by the US military in October last year. Then the story changed, and the Virus was created in a UK lab, given to the US.... And the spat went very quiet.
Why the hell would China start a Virus Epidemic in their own country, grinding their Economy to a halt while the rest of the world sat by and watched? That's be like shitting on your own doorstep.
All a load of crap, but I do love stories & tales like this!

'Mathews, there's an old Tory saying- switch off something now' says Regan in 'Jackpot'.
Archivetvmusings cleverly put this interesting documentary on the '3 day week' on youtube yesterday, the parallels with what's happening now might make you feel more reassured.
It's narrated by none other than Gene Hunt!

A great documentary Arthur. Great find! It could not have been narrated by anyone better either - It was like sitting listening to one of Gene Hunts 'team briefings'.
It seems like everyone was on strike at some point in 1973 - you had the Railway workers, Coal workers, Electric Board and even the Film Industry kicking off at a meeting in Camden Town Hall in December that year.
It amazes me some 47 years on, that some things haven't changed. There was even a big demand for Bog Roll back then! Though it appeared Ted Heath used the situation for his own political gain - and shot himself in the foot.

I remember the three day week as a 13 year old in the winter of 73/4. It was a brilliant excuse to dodge homework! Seriously though, it wasn’t as disruptive to daily life as this pandemic, there were no restrictions on travelling or gatherings of people.

Just noticed this west end comedy play 'One Man Two Guvnors.' It went up on YouTube yesterday. It's been put up by the National Theatre for free viewing. Something to do with the theatres being closed at the moment. I saw it n London about six years ago ( James Corden had left it by then.) and enjoyed it. If anyone can get YouTube up on their tv sets it will be worth watching.
Charles.

I've seen some very good stuff in the West End over the years on my visits to London. This one was a big hit as I recall. I think Corden took it to Broadway and got extremely good reviews that must have been the start of his TV career over there. I only ever watched a few minutes of his BBC show (Can't recall the title.) and wasn't to fussy. I watched 15 minutes of this stage show last night in bed. There wasn't much to write home about early on but as I remember it gets a lot better.
