Where do you stand on XTC? I was never that interested when they were riding high in the hit parade - though a few songs hit home, and I really liked their first release, the Science Friction 3D EP Subsequently I've realised they were something special This song poppped up on my stereophonic system and I was struck by it's many wonderful qualities.... XTC - No Thugs in our House

They're alright LE, for me a bit like REM one of those bands I don't really like or hate - they've done good stuff and a few clunkers along the way... but much better than some of the showers of, that have higher profiles/reps etc.

Thanks DE.
Got to say I adore early REM
I had the good fortune to see their second UK gig at a tiny venue in Worthing. About 40 odd people in the audience. They were wonderful.

I think a 7" of 'Sgt. Rock ( Is Going To Help Me )' by XTC was the first proper record I ever owned ( other than a Smurfs LP ), I think my brother must've bought it me as I was only about 10 when it came out.

I got a couple of singles but I must admit that XTC have been a band that i have discovered looking back rather than at the time. The first of their's I can remember at the time was Senses Working Overtime. I believe it was on either the first NOW album or the rival Hits compilation so that would be 1983 I think. They did a documentary on the band a few years ago looking at their career and the bands style is to keep it down to earth and not be "Rock'N'Roll" ,worth a watch. XTC Docu Trailer

Just watching this video for Making Plans For Nigel and it looks like the band got a big flat panel tv 20 years before they came out. Groundbreaking and ahead of their time Love this track. Such a tune.

Remember seeing this in the 80’S the video is hilarious! Don’t think you’d see summit like this now a days! Poor Nigel! Don’t know how they all kept a straight face making it! Lol
