Seeing this thread resurrected has just reminded me of a number of brilliant documentary films I've watched recently.
The first was Senna Vs. Brundle from when they were competing in F3 in 1983. Obviously I can't put the film on here but here is the trailer:
The next one is "Road" which is more for those with an interest in bikes:
The last one (for now) is The 24 Hour War:

Thanks Sam. I'm interested in the Brundle Senna Doc . Didn't even know it existed. I see it's available to rent on YT and Amazon I do know that BT Sport shows many sports documentaries so worth keeping an eye out if you have that channel.

This is a great BBC documentary about Peter Williams win at the Isle of Man Senior TT in 1973. As well as being a finely crafted film full of fascinating characters, it’s great to see the Norton monocoque race bike in action. Williams designed the machine as well as racing it, and it’s fair to say the Norton apart from its antiquated engine is one of the fathers of the modern super bike.

That's another good one BS It must be a year or two since I've seen that so well worth another watch, thanks for the reminder. Sam.

64 Day Hero- A Boxer's Tale.
A documentary about English boxer Randolph Turpin who beat Sugar Ray Robinson in 1951 to take the World Middleweight Title, retaining it for just 64 days.
This is on Talking Pictures tomorrow morning 07.45.

I’m been hugely impressed with the Netflix documentary “Drive To Survive”. It’s a series that follows the previous year’s F1 season (eg. season 2 covers 2019), giving a pretty comprehensive run-down of events. The genius bit though, is it takes a holistic approach, focusing on everything but the actual races. There’s plenty of footage of memorable race moments, but it’s what happens before, between and after the cars hit the track that really tells the story of the sport.
It takes F1 to the next level with amazing insights into the teams and its drivers, for example Kevin Magnussen smashing Günther Steiner’s Office Door (which you can watch a clip of on YouTube if you like). But aside from that, the quality and detail packed into each episode is amazing, and the editing is exceptional. Honestly, for anybody with even the most fleeting interest in Motorsports, it’s worth a Netflix subscription just for this.

Spot on WIndy, that has been a brilliant program. I watched all of the first series but haven't caught up with the last yet, but I will...

This looks up my street , thanks for the recommendation. Another interesting episode is the one about Williams, where Clare Williams, in a Nero-esque style, is playing with Scalextric racing cars with her two drivers, whilst Paddy Lowe is stuck behind his desk faced with mounting problems with the design of the 2019 cars - the culmination being the team missing the first two days of F1 Pre Season Test Session in Barcelona. The insight you get to the workings of the teams is really quite exceptional.

Thanks for the recommendations Windy. Had a look at bits and pieces of Drive to Survive and Günther Steiner’s comedy gold in it makes me wonder how Grosjean and Magnussen lasted as long as they did in Haas he's like a Swiss hybrid of Ray Winstone and Scarface in that! Is that Wlliams one the same one as shown on BBC2 a couple of years back? Good doc but didn't exactly get a good impression of Claire Williams from that one, she seemed a bit of... y'know but I'm sure a lot of them behind the scenes in F1 are pretty similar. Thanks again Windy.
