I saw a report on channel 4 news a few weeks ago from an empty doctor's surgery & a staff member said it was unheard of for it to be so quiet.
Discounting the genuine cases who are unable to visit surgeries, why can't it be at least half empty year round? If it were we'd presumably have enough staff & resources to cope. What this crisis should tell us is that much more emphasis needs to be put on prevention. If you're fortunate enough not to have health problems, you need to look at your body as you'd look at a decent car you've invested in- look after it, learn to maintain it & you'll only need to see a mechanic when absolutely necessary.
I need a 100K service, a full strip down and rebuild and a paint job. My big end is OK though. Glad to hear it Three

Still out there, working but wife and son at home. The roads are deserted and everything is more or less shut. Surreal really.

I’m loving the drive to work myself.
Fuel a bit cheaper too.

Each time I walk the dog the peace and quiet reminds me of Sundays in the 70's, a pleasant thought as a nostalgia trip but sadly for the wrong reasons. Perhaps after the lockdown the Sunday Trading laws should be cancelled so that people do take one afternoon and evening a week out for an unwind? Sam.

Definitely that would be a great idea! and we would certainly still manage. Just think once over even people had to Wait till Monday morning to go to the bank if they wanted to draw some money out! the world today Is just run with consumerism!

We've seen that when the Virus first broke out.
I know a few people who work in the retail sector for large chain stores - and their employers treat them like s**t. They can bend and find loop holes in employment laws. That's another legacy of Mrs T.

Having tried and failed miserably to get my parents any food delivered (I'm nearly 30 miles from them so going and doing it for them will be a last resort, but I will do it if necessary) I have just got off the phone from doing an Amazon order for them of various toiletries etc that they are running low on. It's crazy which items are either not available or available at an extortionate price now. Dad wanted a bottle of radox muscle soak. My other half is a store manager and they sell this product for something like £1-2. ONE bottle on Amazon currently is £8 plus. I think it was even more than that. It's just loopy! Needless to say, he's not getting any Radox from Amazon. The other one was Rennies. £4 for 72 but only if you buy 4 boxes. Mum said go for it, they'll get used eventually ... get to the checkout and it says they're limited to 2. So we couldn't buy any. That makes sense! Another little story to tell you. My husband as I say is a store manager of a retail store which I won't name because this is the internet and I wouldn't want the story to come back to he store but they're still open and not a supermarket. They have had an online order sitting waiting to be collected for about 3 weeks. They don't know what is in the boxes of course. Head office phoned them on Thursday and said the order had been cancelled, please put the stock on the shelf. When the colleague opened the boxes he found 176 bottles of Carex hand soap. Something they haven't had for weeks, or very few at a time which leave the shelves instantly. So someone, weeks ago, had completely cleared the online stock then did nothing with it and has now had his money back from head office, meanwhile no one has been able to buy such things for weeks. One wonders how long it would take a household to get through 176 bottles of hand soap? What a ! And let's face it, he won't be the only one ...

Selfishness is the one trait that rises to the surface quicker than any other Bols. I'm not in the least bit surprised that some bell end tried to get 176 bottles when 3 or 4 would probably have got them through this crisis. The private sellers on Amazon who are hiking their prices should be named and shamed and prohibited from future trading. Bastards.
