I don't how earth Harry Kane is going to survive on only £140k a week. Poor sod. I'll stick some stuff in the food bank for him when I go shopping on Monday.
A 30% cut isn't a lot.
The football, wages thing needs to be sorted out. Mind you the Football & Sports Agents aren't as pure as the driven snow either. It's them who do the negotiations - and take the commission.
Yeah, they are just as bad. Like I said earlier, have a year off being paid, solve a lot of problems, don’t notice the money loss, be heroes.

Interestingly, when the Corona Virus story first broke here in the UK, Politicians voted for a Pay Rise. Clever timing or just a funny coincidence?

Thanks for posting this. It's the only article I have seen (surprisingly via the BBC) that pretty much speaks 'as it is' - and explains the figures and facts without the usual scaremongering and beaurocratic statement rubbish no one understands, but sounds good on the TV.
My sister mentioned that many people who pass away from other illnesses seem to get included in the "Corona Virus Death" figures. Many of them may have contracted the virus which *may* have pushed along the underlying issue they were being treated for in the first place. None the less, Coronavirus is more infectious then the usual does of flu that are about each year (and kill equal amounts it seems).
I am dreading these next two days of Lockdown - see how many prize dickheads congregate at Parks, in the Country etc. If the masses do go out and about and ignore advice - by Monday we'll have even stricter rules on our movements.
Thank's to them. :w***er:
According to that article, it claims that if everyone kept to the guidelines and advice - the death rate would reach around 20,000 - as opposed to 500,000 if people ignored it and we did sod all.

Yes it is. I'm more worried about the economic effects of the cure than the virus. As the article states it is a more complex situation than it first appears, particularly the issue surrounding the reasons for the deaths. It's a very distressing time for lots of people though, whether you are losing friends or relatives or your job. I can't remember a time when I wanted to speed up time so much, by a couple of months to get out the other side of this mess .................

It would be really helpful if the weather could stop being nice!! If it were pouring down, the idiots would stay in and we might be allowed to retain this level of "freedom".

I see a number of PL footballers get arsey because people "outside football" are saying they take a pay cut. That's because some clubs want us to pay for your non-playing staff and some of you get 8 times the average annual salary, in one week. Bunch of knobs.

From what I've read the jury is out on the public wearing masks. Most of the masks I've seen the public wearing are the flimsy surgical mask type which are designed to keep mouth/nose secretions IN ( ie. away from a patient ) rather than keep viruses out.
If someone feels safer wearing a mask that's up to them, but I think asking the public to wear them, even if it were possible to distribute millions of masks of the right type AND rely on the public to use them properly ( a massive ask ) would be a bad idea. Things need to be kept as normal as possible, going outdoors & seeing every person in a mask would alarm & depress the country & be bad for morale.
Seeing people queuing spaced apart outside the supermarket with security guards watching on is upsetting enough, can you imagine how much worse it would feel if everyone wore a mask?

I agree, don't see the benefit. Trump recommends you wear one but says he won't! The figures for infections in europe are starting to ease, that is the rate that they are going up in Spain and Italy for example, and here in the UK to lesser extent so progress is being made.

I was reading an article about the daily death toll. I assumed that the number given each day is how many have died that day, the news reports that 'the last 24 hours recorded the highest number so far' as if 300 people had all died in the space of 24 hours. In fact the numbers are reported deaths, not deaths on that particular day, the person could've died days or weeks earlier as there is a delay in reporting the figures.
What's disturbing is that the article went on to state that actual numbers of deaths per day is often higher than the reported number.
