A bit of behind the scenes action from the "Shining" in 1979. A majority of which was made at Pinewood.
These the days before CGI and all that tat - effects here done as they should! Quite an impressive DIY snow machine.
A mate worked on this as an Apprentice (he's still working now) and was responsible for lighting the maze plus a few other bits. The blood used in one sequence was actually Cow/Pig blood brought in each day in large tanks - supplied from an Abbotoir.
And it stunk.
Kubrik evidently does his rewrites as he goes - with is portable typewriter. In this you see the first Steadycam used in the UK too.
