I've just finished watching the top 40 on one of the music channels, courtesy of my son, and amid quite a lot of crap, were three songs I liked and I thought that all three had a slight 70s influence and wouldn't have been out of place in the charts then. The first one was Circles by Post Malone, who is quite a decent singer, then there was one by a girl called Lizzo, with a bit of a contribution by Ariane Grande, called Good as Hell, which had a real mid 70s disco vibe to it, it could have been lifted straight from about 75. The final one was by Billie Eilish, who is normally just weird, but this was a really relaxed, laid back kind of track and had a slight feel of something by Fleetwood Mac.
Any others out there?

Check out much of the stuff from Jamiroquai's forst 3 albums, that has a very 70's style much of the way through, with the orchestrated violins playing in the background of certain guitar riffs definately gives it a 70's vibe and feel which they seemed to pioneer from 1993 onwards.
A track called "Cosmic girl" from the 3rd 1996 Travelling without moving album sounds very 70's disco:

Look no further than the latest album by Michael Kiwanuka....
Pretty good he is too

I actually can't remember much that has happened after about 1995, whereas memories of the years 1972-1995 are all quite detailed.

Oh yeah oops! Trouble is I still tend to think of the 90's as modern, Jamiroquai did get more contemporary sounding into the noughties and I drifted off a bit from them then. Interesting stuff from the chap below, hardly listened to the latest stuff.

One current singer I like is Dua Lipa and she has a song out called Levitating, which I think is really good, apart from a rap bit in the middle which rather spoils it. If you ignore this I think it has a late 70s disco sound to it and the video has that look too. Take the rap out and it would fit into a late 79 chart

They have successfully captured the mood of many of said influences on the record IMO.

Another current singer I quite like is Anne Marie, who I think we mentioned a bit back.
She's got a decent song out called Our Song, it's a duet with her and Niall Horan, ex of One Direction, and I think this has a slight 70s feel to it. The video also features a Jag XK120 and a Morris Minor too!
