Yes there was a cyclist, dressed in black clothing, no lights on the bike and just the very small reflector on his backpack. The bell-end had no idea how close he was to being a statistic. To top it all as I passed him with my hooter blaring I spotted he had headphones on as well! What I don't get is why anyone would put themselves in that position, utter madness! There's usually a cyclist or two on train journey to work and I'm always amazed at one in particular who starts to get himself ready when we pull into the last station - high vis padded clothing, elbow and knee pads, pop on the safety helmet, check the lights - then plug in the earphones ! Also, there was a craze a few years ago for the cheeky "Police" style high vis vests. I haven't seen any for quite a while. I wonder if they got banned. https://www.instagram.com/p/CfsZd-rK8JU ... and on the subject of headphones, when did it become the norm for bods on public transport to ditch the headphones and treat fellow passengers to their cr*p music tastes via the small tinny speaker on their smartphone ? Surely you can't appreciate music when it's distorting from a speaker the size of a Vole's anus. Get some earphones... just remember to pack them away when you get on the bike.

As most of you may know by now I'm not the world's biggest footie fan (understatement of the year!) but I'm now aware that the UEFA Women's EURO 2022 finals are on Sunday and that the England team are in the final.
What I don't get is why cars, houses, pubs, fans, etc etc are not adorned with England flags (note that I call it the England flag as opposed to the flag of St. George because it is no longer the flag of St. George when "England" or the three lions motif is added!) in the same manner as it would be for men's footie.
What does that say about the general mentality of footie fans? Are they that blinkered/biased that they can only support men's football?
Sam.

I've watched bits of it, the quarter final against Spain was a good game. I think maybe a lot of fans feel it's being bigged up by the media, especially the BBC, into something comparable to the equivalent level of the men's game.
Personally I think it's good that the women's game is being taken seriously.

Was parking my XC90 in Tesco this morning, being careful as it's a big car and you can't look in every direction at once. There was no one near when I started but some guy then arrived on his bike with one of those silly vests pictured above and gave me a black look as I finished, he should have waited until I finished what I started before he arrived. Then walked to the store to see some lard butt sat in his pickup truck parked in the drop-off area. I'm cyclist sometimes but some people given them a bad name. Not a lard butt though.

This isn't the thread for it, but your post reminded me how I've actually enjoyed watching the Tour de France Femmes rather than the mens Tour de France. I haven't watched the mens race for a few years and happened across one of the womens stages one night this week, and it was great.

While waiting for the Hungary F1 to begin on tv I saw an ad. which I really don't get.
Gambling adverts here are advertising that 'mates' should bet together. Scenes of four men hanging out together, sharing experiences and betting as a team on races and events with an App. Yeah, lose money with your friends !

Yeah, we get that here in the UK (think you're in Aus?), just not wanted, needed or appropiate.

Gambling adverts are room 101 fodder. The only winners are the bookies, it's just a means of hoovering money out of the pockets of the punters

Why has darts become a big spectator sport on TV? To me, it's just a pub game, used to pass a bit of time on at lunchtimes in the George and Dragon in Manchester back in the late 70s/early 80s darting, but now huge crowds at the Alexandra palace. Don't get it
