I've just been watching the Now 80s channel and this came on:
If it is not bad enough that it is a very weak cover the group have also added also some totally unnecessary rap that was never in the original.
Utter pants!

Wow - a bad karaoke singer backed by a synth and drum machine. I hadn't heard of this before but it apparently made the top 10 in 1989. Although it's tosh, at least they recreated the track from scratch. My pet hate is that trend from the 90s where someone would just sample a riff from a classic song and then just rap all over it - the Men In Black thing a case in point, ruining a great Patrice Rushen song.

Never heard that before, it's terrible, agreed. 1989 was pretty much a peak year for 💩 imo.

I don't dislike Take That, but their cover of It only takes a minute I thought was pretty poor.

Here's the original: One Hundred Ton and A Feather: Take That: Jonathan King's lyrics were particularly weak, Take That's lyrics were stronger but I wasn't keen on the typical 90s boy band arrangement. Strangely, I like Jonathan Kings version best. It's the only thing he ever did I liked and it always reminds me of the summer of 76 when it got a lot of airplay.

Listening to various Queen tracks on Youtube while working from home and this abomination came up:
Don't get me wrong, I've always appreciated the work of all of the Queen band members but the one I have most respect for since the loss of Freddie Mercury is John Deacon as he's graciously stepped back from the spotlight since the tribute concert. Yes Brian May and Roger Taylor have continued to promote the memory of the band and of course Freddie but output like this does not do anyone any favours.

Not sure what Roger was thinking covering a novelty song like that, Covid brainfog or maybe he admired Russell Grant's version from some years ago, I'm sure we all remember it-
