I’ve always worked Saturdays so I’ve never managed to get to one of these - however this year I was considering it with swapping a day but it does seem like a complete circus and part of me is utterly against the whole thing.
Do any of you go? Anyone particularly for or against the idea?

Hi Alex, yes I’ve done one of the Record Store Day events at Rough Trade East in 2015. Even though I arrived more than an hour before they opened there was a fairly healthy queue for it and after waiting for an hour a rather leery geezer showed up looked at the queue and jokingly said **** That! before sauntering off – which was a bit of a laugh! Got a few things that day like a rare Section 25 7” and some dance/electronic orientated stuff but missed out on a fair proportion of stuff I really wanted as it does get like a plague of locust's there! Probably being honest it’s usually stuff you’ve already got but in a fancy new vinyl or cover! Probably wont really bother with it this year unless there’s something very VERY essential that gets released. If I so I might also try somewhere different like Sister Ray or another indie shop too and good that events like these does keep the record shop scene alive too. The only gripe is the ebayer’s tend to swamp these events – suppose it’s only natural but does deny true fans a chance of owning something rare.
