I'm very pleased to announce that 4:3tv - The Retro Channel is celebrating it's 3rd Birthday this weekend! In just 3 years we have seen the forum grow from strength to strength. Membership had grown steadily as we near the 100 mark. Yourselves as members may not be aware that we still have in place the approval system for people wishing to join 4:3tv. This is likely to stay in place too for the foreseeable future as it has proven vital in keeping spam registrations out. Anyone applying for membership will continue to have to respond to a welcome email by giving us a little background info. Had this system not been in place, we would certainly be looking at a membership base of around 300. However, nothing has changed since we set out to start this forum in that we are not the least bit interested in membership numbers - just members that contribute. We have also amassed over 1250 Topic Threads, and a staggering 38000+ posts. We are extremely pleased with this too. We have seen the creation of whole new dedicated sections for The Sweeney, Life On Mars, Ashes To Ashes, Auf Wiedersehen Pet & Minder and of course a dedicated Location Report Section. As ever, those of you who are on here regularly and contributing to the topics (you know who you are!), we would like to thank you for the fantastic information you continue to share with other members. It's this information that ensures that we continue to be the #1 retro resource on the web. Long may that continue. As a little thank you from us, I've created a brand new "retro" theme that you can try out. It has some classic retro colours and makes a nice change from the usual purples and blues. You can find the new theme by going to Profile/Edit Profile/Settings and scroll down to "Forum Theme". From there, you can select the new theme, which is called "3 Years Of 43tv" and then remember to click "Save Account Settings" at the foot of the page. Here's to many more years to come on 4:3tv - the Retro Channel. Thank you all again. Gene & Sam.

Three years indeed! To echo what Gene has said above, I'd also like to add my thanks to all members and regular contributors as it is you that give the forum the success that it has achieved over the past three years. In addition to Gene's comments, we are also looking forward to our 6th meet in just two weeks time. These meets may be a continuation of past meets but have now become so much more than just a get-together as they were on a Sunday of old. With such a wide-ranging subject matter that 4:3TV now enjoys, the meets have taken us to so many iconic locations from cult films and TV over the years and have stretched to become brilliant weekends away. I would also add my thanks to our Moderator team of Del-Boy and The Saint for their continued support and watchful eyes, but once again my biggest thanks got to Gene himself for the massive amount of time and effort he dedicates to the ongoing development of the forum. Here's to many more years of 4:3TV - The Retro Channel Sam.

Happy Third Birthday! I realise I've been here more like three weeks than three years, but it has been lovely to get to know some like-minded folk. Long may it continue! :)

Well done lads, take a bow!! Out of the ashes of the old TV Lounge, you've created something bigger and better. Here's to another 3 years and more.

Well those 3 years have flown by! We have a great membership on here of contributing members, all of whom bring different types of retro knowledge to 4:3tv and help to make this the enjoyable place it has become Huge thanks and appreciation to Gene for setting up and constantly developing the forum and arranging the fantastic meets, to keep this place running consumes countless hours of his time. Thanks must also go to Sam and Del Boy for the work they put into the forum as well, much of this is behind the scenes to help ensure smooth running Here's to the next 3 years and beyond..... The Saint

Gene & the admin team should be rightly proud of this forum, as should the knowledgeable contributors. I visit daily and always find out something I did not know and often get a laugh or two as well.
Long may it continue.

Happy Birthday to the forum. Those three years have really flown over.
This forum keeps getting better and better though, it seems to have picked up speed quite a bit recently.
Many thanks to Gene, Sam, Del and The Saint for all your efforts.
Charles.
