That's a tremendous spot I watched this episode yesterday, the Granada was very well appointed, Ford were making some great motors around that time.

A Mini Metro saloon, I think it looks very odd. Not sure if it was a one-off or not. Reminds me of a Vauxhall Chevette saloon. The Saint

Never seen one of them before. Perhaps a prototype ? It looks like a Nova from the same period.

That Metro saloon is a prototype. You can see it in the flesh at the British Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon. It was a proposal at the time as BL had probably seen the VW Derby (saloon Polo).
Surprised in one sense that it wasn't produced, but a Metro saloon would have only limited market appeal in the UK and would have meant more investment to tool up for I suppose. Could have sold better in Continental markets maybe, as they tended to prefer saloons. But as BL were carfully watching the purse strings with Michael Edwardes at the helm, it was not made in the end. They preferred to invest in tooling up for a 5 door hatch version instead from late 1984.
Not long after the Metro, they launched the small 4 door saloon, Triumph Acclaim for a similar market which was pretty much "oven ready" as a shared model from Honda. (A booted Civic).

Strangely enough Vauxhall did alright(ish) with the Nova Saloon they had out in the 80s which is a more proportioned and tidier version of that Metro.

I stumbled upon this image earlier today and my initial thoughts were "Wow! That is a forecourt I would love to have a walk around!" Then I noticed the obvious car at the front as being Inspector Morse's Jag and I thought "Wow!" again... Then I noticed the prices and had already started to put my coat on to go and buy a couple of them when I noticed the film crew lighting in the background. It appears to be from an episode of Inspector Morse. Which one I don't know as I have never watched that many of them. A great image though. I love 'em all, but that two tone Armstrong Siddeley on the right is a peach! Gene.

I did read that John Thaw hated driving the Jag, thought it was a bit of pig I think. Maybe it was a poorly maintained example.
In the books I think he drove a Lancia?

Gene, that scene was from the first episode of "Endeavour" the Morse prequel set in the 60's, (reached 1970 with the most recent episodes). The young Morse in the story makes some enquiries at the car dealers and he notices the very smart 248RPA on the forecourt. I believe this was done as a nod to the John Thaw series and the same real car was used.
